                                                                                 pAssion
                                                                           Across the Ancient Greek world,
                                                                           women spent time dyeing threads,
                                                                           spinning yarn, weaving cloth and
                                                                           decorating textiles in their homes,
                                                                           finding inspiration in nature, culture
                                                                           and mythology to create patterns
                                                                           and devise ingenious techniques.
                                                                           In fact, one early law allowed
                                                                           widowed and divorced women
                                                                           to keep half of the weavings they
                                                                           had created in their marriage, with
                                                                           some historians tracing the custom
                                                                           of the wedding dowry in the form
                                                                           of white goods that is still prevalent
                                                                           in Greece to that ancient creative
                                                                           passion for textiles.
